Hello
I’ve always been driven by curiosity — to understand how things work, how systems interact, and how we can make them better. Whether it’s a smelter, a hydrogen plant, or a digital twin of an entire operation, I’m fascinated by the blend of physics, data, and decision-making that drives industrial performance. My focus has evolved from hands-on engineering to guiding organizations through complex transitions — helping them apply science, simulation, and digital tools to create more sustainable, intelligent, and efficient operations.
My Journey: Through Innovation and Industry
Dr. Andrew Campbell’s career bridges the worlds of engineering, research, and digital transformation. Beginning as a research engineer with HIsmelt Corporation in Western Australia, he helped pioneer advanced process modeling for Rio Tinto’s ironmaking innovations — early exposure to the fusion of metallurgy and computational science that would define much of his future work.
He deepened that expertise through a PhD at the University of Greenwich in London, where he conducted Rio Tinto–funded research in computational fluid dynamics (CFD), modeling the complex thermal behavior inside smelting systems. That combination of deep technical insight and real-world application set the stage for a career spent solving industrial challenges through analysis and innovation.
Returning to Australia, Andrew joined BHP’s Olympic Dam operations as a senior metallurgist, driving research and automation projects to improve safety and performance in high-temperature smelting processes. From there, he transitioned into consulting with Advisian (part of Worley), where over 15 years he built and led a global team specializing in advanced analysis — from CFD and quantitative risk modeling to logistics and value chain simulation. His leadership helped shape Worley’s analytical and digital consulting capability, serving clients across mining, energy, and infrastructure.
As Senior Director for Sustainability and Climate Adaptation and later Senior Director for Simulation, Andrew played a central role in advancing Worley’s global strategy for digital and decarbonization services — helping clients optimize hydrogen value chains, assess climate risk, and embrace new simulation-driven design methods for the energy transition.
Today, through Andymus Consulting, Andrew continues to advise industry on technology adoption, sustainability, and data-driven transformation. Based in Perth, he combines decades of operational experience with cutting-edge digital insight — guiding organizations to make confident decisions in a changing world.
His story is one of relentless curiosity and practical innovation — a career built on understanding complexity, turning analysis into action, and helping industry move toward a more sustainable future.
