Hello

Peter has always believed that data is the most human part of digital — a mirror of how we think, decide, and build. His curiosity about code, connectivity, and systems runs deep, from early scripting and database tinkering to leading large-scale digital programs across industries. He’s fascinated by how AI, automation, and industrial data ecosystems are reshaping how assets are designed, operated, and sustained.

The future of industrial innovation isn’t just smarter machines — it’s more intelligent collaboration, where digital twins, contextual data, and generative design converge to make complexity manageable and sustainability measurable. Whether experimenting with new programming tools, mapping data governance strategies, or exploring what’s next for digital engineering, he’s driven by a simple question:
How do we turn information into insight, and insight into impact?

From Control Rooms to Boardrooms: My Journey

Peter Scaife’s career began in the quiet hum of control rooms in Canada — surrounded by cables, blueprints, and a young designer determination to understand not just how complex systems worked, but how they could work better. His early years taught him the discipline of precision, but also sparked a lifelong curiosity about people, technology, and transformation — a thread that would carry him around the world.

After honing his skills in Canada, Peter’s path led him to Southeast Asia, where he joined global engineering teams delivering offshore oil and gas projects — massive undertakings that tested both endurance and ingenuity. He helped coordinate the digital backbone of these programs, implementing new tools and data systems that brought consistency and control to operations spread across oceans. The days were long, but the rewards were rich — strong kopi fueling design sessions, late-night street food runs, and cross-cultural collaboration that left a lasting mark on how he led teams.

Next came the Middle East, where Peter managed digital innovation for some of the region’s most ambitious energy projects, including the largest pipeline development in Oman’s history. It was a period defined by scale and transformation — balancing real-world engineering with digital reinvention inside Worley, where he championed internal modernization to make global teams more connected, data-driven, and agile. Between project sites and boardrooms, he cultivated a taste for Arabic coffee laced with cardamom, and a leadership style grounded in patience, perspective, and trust.

Returning to North America, Peter turned his focus to the mining sector, landing in Sudbury, Ontario, Canada to lead digital transformation and innovation initiatives across the Americas. From greenfield projects in Brazil to operational optimization in Canada, he helped miners harness data, automation, and insight to drive performance and sustainability. At the same time, he deepened his roots in community leadership through his role with the Greater Sudbury Development Corporation (GSDC), where he applies strategic governance and transformation principles to municipal and economic development.

Today, as the founder of Daybreak Strategy, Peter unites all those experiences — from offshore rigs to regional boardrooms — helping organizations transform with clarity, creativity, and a deep respect for both people and systems. His journey has been one of connection: between technology and humanity, industry and innovation, and yes, between countless cups of coffee and unforgettable meals shared with teams around the world.
